Finance

The overall aim of the Finance function is to operate a high standard of financial management in line with the requirements of the Academy Trust Handbook, whilst providing an efficient and effective service to meet the needs of the Trust. 

The key areas of service provision are: 

  • Production of management accounts for use at both Academy and Trust level 
  • Setting and monitoring of budgets at both Academy and Trust level 
  • Finance administration service to all schools including: 
  • Processing of purchase and sales invoices 
  • Payments to suppliers 
  • Processing of expense claims 
  • Statutory responsibilities including VAT returns, ESFA reporting and HMRC reporting 
  • Management of both internal and external audit 
  • Maintaining an up-to-date finance system to ensure effective reporting and control 
  • Financial Management and reporting for Bishop Wilkinson Commercial Services and the BWCET internal catering service 

The finance department comprises a central team of 6 finance assistants and a central finance manager, overseen by the Chief Financial Officer. In addition, each secondary school has a Cluster Finance Manager and Finance Officer who manage their own school alongside seven local primary schools.
