Early years at BWCET

At Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust we are committed to ensuring that our pupils are given the very best start to life, through educational excellence, to ensure we unlock the potential in every child.

We recognise that investing in the early years is fundamental in ensuring that we redress the balance for those pupils who do not benefit from the strongest start in their early life. By prioritising our work in the early years we ensure a strong foundation for every child’s future well-being and success.

We know that if children fall behind their peers in the early years, their chance of future success is significantly affected. Our schools have highly ambitious and precise curriculums which ensure that children are given the most important building blocks needed to ready them for education at KS1 and beyond. These cover all areas of learning and prioritise the important prime areas of development: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language; physical development.

Since the inception of the Trust, we have added nursery provision to many of our schools. It remains our ambition that, in time, all of our schools will offer high quality Catholic nursery provision to ensure that every community within our Trust can benefit from our early years offer.

We are blessed to have many highly skilled early years leaders in our early years provisions, in addition to expert colleagues working in the Trust’s central team with considerable knowledge and experience of transforming early years education. Our schools are ably supported to develop early years practice.
