This page outlines the SEND provision provided by the Trust, emphasizing inclusive teaching and individualised support.
At BWCET we believe that each child, irrespective of need or disability, should be given equality of opportunity to achieve their full spiritual, academic and social potential. This is achieved through recognising the uniqueness of each individual and providing a rich and equitable learning experience for all.
Our geographical footprint spans four local authorities and two integrated care boards, each with highly individual approaches and systems for supporting pupils with SEND. Therefore, it is our responsibility, to ensure that every child can flourish through an aspirational curriculum which is adapted and scaffolded according to their needs.
We believe that, in alignment with the 2022 SEND Green Paper, the right support, at the right place at the right time is paramount in securing the future outcomes for those with SEND.
Our approach to SEND echoes that of our wider vision, nurturing each person through loving relationships and rich daily experiences centered on the teachings of Christ.
Our school leaders work collaboratively to offer pupils appropriate reasonable adjustments in line with statutory guidance and in keeping with our mission statement.
Central to the work of every school is a continuous cycle of planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation that takes account of the wide range of abilities, aptitudes and interests of the pupils. The majority will learn and progress well within these arrangements. However, for those with special educational needs, there might be a need to provide an enhanced level of provision that supports and enhances their learning abilities.
Our teachers are responsible for SEND provision within the classroom and for high-quality teaching. This is the first and most important step in providing an appropriately adapted, inclusive curriculum and ensuring each child is recognised as an individual.
Our BWCET central education team provides support and guidance to our schools to help them to realise their high ambitions for pupils with SEND.
