The community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n The BWCET Celebration of Sport is truly a celebration of our Trust community, an opportunity for pupils to develop the virtues we place at the heart of the Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBrendan Foster<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Brendan Foster was born in Hebburn, South Tyneside and\u202fis a British former long-distance runner, athletics commentator, and road race organiser. Brendan founded the\u202fGreat North Run, one of the sport\u2019s most high-profile half-marathon races. As an athlete, he won the\u202fbronze medal in the 10,000 metres\u202fat the\u202f1976 Summer Olympics\u202fin Montreal, Canada and is a former European and Commonwealth champion.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nSport teaches you to roll with the punches. You\u2019ve got to enjoy the ups and suffer the downs\u2026 there wasn\u2019t a session that made me a world record-holder. The only session that made me anything was the one I did today and the one I\u2019m doing tomorrow<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brendan Foster on Sport<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nJessica Eddie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Jessica Eddie was born in Durham and was a student at St Leonard\u2019s Catholic School. She\u202fis a former British rower and is one of the sport\u2019s most experienced female competitors. Jess is a former European and World champion, and in 2016 she was part of the squad that won a silver medal in the Olympics at Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nSport is amazing, the most amazing thing I’ve ever done, and bigger and better than anyone tells you. The hard work is so rewarding<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jessica Eddie on Sport<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nBob Moncur<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Bob Moncur, was born in 1945 and is a Scottish former professional footballer. He gained fame as the captain of Newcastle United in the late 1960s and led the Scotland national side in the early 1970s. Moncur played a crucial role in Newcastle\u2019s victory in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969, scoring three goals. He is the last Newcastle United captain to lift silverware for the club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
